It's not capitalism, it's the need for resources and that need cuts across economic systems. The former Soviet Union and China did terrible things to the environment.

you have problems with capitalism but it is not capitalism per say it is liberalism the true problem, if you dont have limits with good moral and virtues of the people instead of regulation (that cripples capitalism) a total liberal society produce all the abuses and like karl marx said alienate the people

it's the lack of values and virtues of the people the problem not economic freedom

This mostly comes under "tragedy of the commons" (look it up) now this is mostly used as a critique on private property/profit. Which is stupid look up any example of common ownership which should convince you.

Counter argument: capitalism is individuals taking actions to help their short term needs first. Once those needs satisfied then people focus on long term needs which includes most environment concerns. This is why "the west" is more concerned about the environment, because they aren't starving and focus on longer term goals. And China and India who have taken an enormous amount of people out of poverty is now only just taking environmental concerns seriously. This is how things should be.

Most environment arguments are just pushing communism/socialism because they reject viable options (like nuclear). Also be aware most environment news is extremely exaggerated, I'm not saying it's not a problem but you should be skeptical I know many people in media and science who knowingly misinform or exaggerate information. It's sad but just like mgtow you have to try to look for unbiased data and do your own analysis (or just don't let them instill fear in you to push an agenda) I would also only pay attention to numbers and math because many people will use the authority of "science" to cover an agenda (just like the coof) GYOW don't follow anyone else

These guys that want socialism have no sound argument, they are just jealous of rich people. That is it.

If they actually wanted to save the world then capitilalism is the way to go. The faster we go with technology, the faster we can think up systems to fix the enviroment. Because what people don't seem to understand is that the biggest world parts aren't even in full technology phase. They are still growing... China isn't even close to it's peak yet. So if we want to save the world, push more people into ACTUAL science and not this bs social crap. This way more brains can be used to fight the effects of a growining economy and when we have the solution, we can share it. Socialism would STOP growth and it would actually cause more damage int eh long run.

But again, socialists don't have an argument, they are just jealous of rich people.

The planet has gone through ice ages, super volcanoes, asteroid strikes many times in the past and life learns to thrive. It is amazing how life can restore these areas. Hell scientists originally thought it would take hundreds of thousands of years for chernobyl to be livable again now they found fungus that metabolizes the radiation. It may drastically shorten the time for it to be habitable again. Life always self corrects itself.

I really don't like how people just say "socialism" and "capitalism" like they are directly opposed each other and they don't overlap in some way.

Also, nothing would really change to the environment directly if we were to have a socialist system. However, workers could possibly vote for environmentally friendly rules in the company??

Whether you are a capitalist or socialist, governments should be trying their best to reduce the amount of CO2 being emmitted. If we keep going at this pace, the way we live life would become a lot more expensive.

Here’s how I look at it. People want our country to be more green. This leads to more regulation and higher costs.

Instead of paying the higher cost, people simply buy goods from places that care even less about the environment than we do.

In the end, we are losing jobs, enriching our enemy and continuing to pollute our world.

Actually it is the state that wastes resources by intervening in a free market actually being as efficient as possible. State intervention in free markets pollutes much more to accomplish same end goals. The free market is like a river and laws and red tape regulations are like big rocks in a river, and the river will find the sea in the end and go around the rocks!

If tomorrow all the animals besides us were wiped out because of mass hunting would that be a problem?

Basic oxygen replenishment, yeah. The climatic effects also of carbon sequestration in plants are also important. Remember that Earth has been stuck in a low-key ice age for millions of years because of one explosive growth of ferns (Azolla ferns had such a successful period that they sucked tonnes of carbon out of the atmosphere, triggering a sudden cooling period).

It's a cost-benefit analysis--do long-term impacts on infrastructure (like the need to build desalination plants to replace freshwater glaciers as precipitation patterns change) outweigh the benefits of short-term resource expenditure?

Ultimately, this isn't even a capitalism vs. communism thing. It's a "you need to spend a certain amount of energy to provide people with a given standard of living" thing. The US could literally go Marxist-Leninist tomorrow and rename itself "United Socialist States of America," but so long as everyone wants to keep the lights on (for the glory of the motherland!), per-capita CO2 emissions would remain high.
