Although major tech companies with massive control over billions of people can’t define what ‘hate speech’ is when asked, they do remove people’s posts and pages left and right without warnings. One might even see patterns of preferences and bias towards political views. Certain types of ‘hate speech’ (e.g. ‘White people are bad’ or ‘Kill all men’) are allowed and quite popular especially on Twitter, whilst merely arguing on behalf of the ‘wrong’ political side or calling someone fat could get you banned. As long as there’s no pressure on this issue social media companies will continue choosing their own biased laws and govern them on billions of people, with many of those users having much more freedom than others depending on their views, race, gender, orientation.
