Okay relax bro. Since you're young you may not be used to do this, but the news like to dramatize a lot of shit. Yes, we are likely going to hit a recession in the next year or so, but it's nowhere near as bad as you think. Here's why:

The world economy ALWAYS goes through cycles of expansion and recession. In general, these cycles happen every ~10 years. Since the last recession was in 2008, the next one is statistically coming soon.
Recessions last way less than economic expansions. 1-year is actually a pretty long time for a recession to last.
Just because the economy is in recession it doesn't mean that you will not be able to find a job... Unemployment rates will rise but it's not going to go to 100% (not even 30% actually).
Do I even need to touch about your fear of war? This is pretty ridiculous. Just because a recession is coming it doesn't mean world war 3 is happening tomorrow. This fear is way too irrational but this is probably the first recession you're living through as an adult, so it's ok. Just ask yourself, did a world war happen in 2008 when one of the worst recessions ever hit us?

And by the way, the news told us all through late 2017 that a huge recession was about to hit in 2018, but guess what, nothing happened. There's no way to confidently predict a recession. Don't believe everything you hear from the news man.

Do you graduate studies make you more employable i.e. is it in maths, science, engineering etc.?

I remember the 2008 crash we had in America. No, it was not a GD but I remember a lot of people got let go / laid off. That could have been the end for a lot of us.

Point is it didn't end and my job security didn't either. That came later, about 8 years later.

Prior to all that I grew up in an American ghetto where nothing seemed possible. Nothing good anyway. Here's my takeaway:

The world is going to change around you in dramatic and sometimes violent ways. It can only affect you if you let it affect you. One of the greatest blessings I had as a child was being rejected by those around me. Their fate was sealed in that ghetto. Mine wasn't. Mine evolved from a life in the shadows. As I grew into my role I watched those around me go through their trials. I watched the world change and change again. I studied it. I studied all people. Those that grabbed hold suffered. Those that grabbed onto meaning and sanctuary in that shifting sand lost everything.

Focus inward. Make your fortress your mind. Keep that space and ignore everything around you for now. It will change and change again. Don't be attached to it when it changes. Be the inconsequential water flowing under a grate. Nobody knows you and nobody cares. Better you don't care. If you don't care it cannot affect you.

When you're older and times are more predictable then grab onto something.

Finish your graduate degree, don't spend a dime on THOTs, stay healthy, sleep enough at night, save money, DON'T get married, DON'T have kids, DON'T co-habitate with a female, and you'll be able to weather the storm.
