Do you know why she was hired? Not for her skills but because she is a woman. A lot of contracts give preference to a company that has female employees. If the employee count is low enough, hiring 1 woman will give them the percentage of female employees they need to qualify for being given preference over other companies.

There's roadwork going on near my work, there's one woman, she wears a white hard hat and from the looks of it has never done the work for a living. They're usually hired as flaggers.

I deal with construction companies/crews for a living, I can count on 1 hand the number of women that I've dealt with that actually do the work. They're usually in admin.

I have a woman that works with me. She calls in for help every chance she gets. I don't complain though. It's usually for the most basic shit that takes me 2 seconds to do and I make the company eat at least an hour for it, every time.

Of course, management has already given her several awards, some of which she isn't even eligible for, because women. She's cool, though
