I am very sceptical short/middle about stocks, just don't put all your money into basket and keep 50% of your investments in cash if market crash to buy cheap

Ps: market always crash, it's just about timing

I have most of mine sitting in the US500 and then a mix of tech and other indexes. The US economy continues to amaze me but I’m starting to look at other options ... I also have something sitting in Australian markets and then the usual mix of Vanguard and ETFs.

I keep around 100k in cash in a 30 day CD at 3.5% to jump in upon a large crash.

But in all honest, the biggest gains I’ve given myself is living a minimalist lifestyle and staying away from young stupid females.

Ain’t no market returns gonna beat that position.

Warren Buffett is hoarding cash because he can't find deals, even preferred deals, in today's markets.

He advises non-professionals to invest in no load, low fee, index funds and named the Vanguard S&P 500 specifically.

Years ago I decided that Warren Buffett knows more about investing than I do and so I've decided to follow his advice.

Another point worth considering is that despite Buffett's personal stance on taxes, he avoids them like the plague with Berkshire and passes tax avoidance benefits on to shareholders. One way of looking at it is controlling costs that can be controlled. He's a fan. My point is, pay close attention to the tax side of things and other ways of increasing the amount of money you keep, e.g. buy stuff on clearance, don't buy anything not on sale, etc.

I used to do heavy China investing through Matthews Asia. Highly recommend their funds as for 5 or 6 years I made quite a bit on their funds. However, now that I'm older and knowing that serious market swings can last decades, it makes more sense for me to be in a bit less risky position. Which means I put 80% S&P 500/Total Stock Market and 20% international stocks. Which is still considered "risky" unless you're more than 20 years from retirement. However, overall it's far less risky than being heavily invested in international stocks. I max 401k and Roth IRA every year and I use the money in the Roth IRA as play money to cherry pick individual companies that I know are going to do well, including international companies. I've made far more growth on my Roth IRA than my 401k even though my 401k has more money in it. But I just chalk that up to being lucky.

The advantage of index funds is that they typically have lower fees so it's the way to go.

The Personal Finance subreddit has info that will tell you how to invest and/or pay off debts based on your life situation.

Don't invest in,china. I live here their economy is a house of Cards. Keep it in dollars and Euro. I buy CDS every 2 months and sock away 35% of my income. I buy stocks twice a year.

for me, i'm no investor, i'm only gonna save rm80k and put it into gold/index funds, then i'll save some more and spend those money on leather furnitures for my home :D
