I have experienced this briefly once in my life. I walked through hayfields by the coast down to the coast line, the sun was setting, and the breeze was a tad more than gentle, which blew my hair and face and the hay, and I could see the water shimmering and also glistening the sunlight. It took me about 25 minutes to walk to that spot. My mind went blank, I just took in the beauty of it all, knowing something Like this cannot truly be captured by a photograph, I would only feel this once. It was beautiful. I am stuck in an office all day every week, so that was probably why, but definitely a moment or contentment, or at least completely letting go of thought.

I agree, this is for those who want to achieve monk hood, and again it a personal choice.

But make sure to have the foundations down first; table income, roof over you head, your own space, etc.

Ego death, reaching some sort of serenity, whatever is quite challenging if you have to live under a bridge somewhere.

For me this is disgusting brainwashing. I achieved that but it doesn't lead you to long and deep sense of happiness. Moments of bliss, yet another drug, another form of escapism from all emotions, especially the negative ones like hate, suffering, sadness, from thoughts and building walls around yourself trying to tell yourself that its good. For me its not, it wasnt the right way. The moment I embraced my shadow, the filth of this world and started to feel a whole palet of emotions from negative to positive it all made sense and gave me fulfillment. I started feeling like a whole and complete human being. Trying to escape suffering of any kind is the biggest joke humans threw upon themselves. The light bearer, the adversary patiently waits and laughs at your endeavors, im talking here symbolically. Remember that when you try to go too much to the good side, the bad side will remind you of itself and otherwise. There is right and left hand path and both of those make you complete. The real yin and yang. Not that bullshit false idols and gurus try to preach and make money and have power over you.

I saw an interview with Elon Musk where he acknowledged that most people are motivated by their limbic system. Basically most people live entirely enslaved to these phony ideas of what will give them pleasure and satisfaction. Pornography is a great example. It makes you like a monkey with his finger on the button. All you are doing is releasing clouds of dopamine into your system. I'm not saying don't do it but understand what it is if you do. Same thing for most people's relationships, ideas of status etc. They are doing because of how they think it will make them feel. After I get the job, the car, the house, the wife the kids it will all be great.... These are all illusions. It's all just this idea that we can create a kind of favorable state of emotional health and brain chemistry by doing all this stuff. None of it even works that well or is even necessary. I was watching documentary about these cocoa farmers in Africa making like $2 per day and still trying to support wives and families. Why do they do this and bring forth even more people into abject poverty? It's because of the limbic system. It's following blind biological drives and social conditioning. A man seeking liberation will try to extricate himself from these chains, and come to understand how it is actually impossible that these things will ever create any kind of lasting freedom. He will come to understand what must be sacrificed in order to be rid of things that impede self realization. In order to do this you have to be able to rule your own limbic system, hack it, and learn to realize how it tries to trick you with fantasy.

I'm impressed. Do you have a source or citation for the quote? I'd like to read that newsletter if there's more. I think it's also called being In the Zone or in the Flow. Whether we're making art or playing music or gaming or writing code, being so perfectly immersed in doing that we forget our complaints.

I wish I could ... the thirst may become weaker, but other things become more important and being content in those actions - especially in writing - is not easy and does not become easier with time.
