I think it's good. For human cognition to work it needs language to be able to talk to itself. Having a set of words for concepts makes it easier for people and culture to express these ideas in a way that it couldn't without these vocabulary words. So they are just not empty words, by signifiers for an idea - an idea that would be lost without the word referring back to it.
Yeah it might become "diluted", but language is a living thing and evolving. New words form to replace the ideas that were lost to popular culture.
