Most are too stupid. The rest are too scared or selfish. In a way ignorance is bliss. Being smarter than people means you're less relatable in general. Unless you decide to express yourself in a way that relates to them but that takes extra work as oppose to just being stupid and fitting in.

I don't engage, usually. It's not worth the effort. Dumb people are inherently dumb... no amount of debate/facts will change that.

Remember the old proverb, "Don't cast your pearls before swine". In other words, don't talk about important or intelligent things to people who aren't intelligent, and don't deserve it. Keep your mouth shut, and watch the magic happen. Also, being smart and alert and aware of things these days can get you into trouble. Be as Wise as a serpent, and as innocent as a dove....remember?

I read a quote that changed my life forever, very common sense and very cut through the bullshit simple. "Half of all people you meet will be below average." I am so much more patient now, primarily at work. So, no, many people do not need to be harshed on for reaching their maximum capability.

That leaves the other half. In that half, at least half of them are assholes who want to delude themselves or you for some benefit real or imagined. Harsh on them all you want.

Out of the remaining half, half of them have already figured out that dealing with the afore mentioned 75% is just like banging your head against the wall. Their head hurts and they aren't going to fight losing battles anymore. They don't have that kind of time. Another platitude, "Arguing with an idiot will eventually bring you down to their level." Depending on the day, I may or may not fall into either of these categories.

So now you are down to 12.5% and not all of them are going to reach the same conclusion, because they don't have the same set of experiences that you do. Different data inputs.

That's where I landed anyway. So you are not alone, but close to it. (This was all intended as commiseration and agreement of a sort.)

Careful with the abstract thinking though and who you hand it to. Its just a tool to reach a fully formed objective thought. I think a lot of the problems we have now are caused both intentionally and accidentally by college professors handing out this tool without describing its purpose (as it was done to them), much like a loaded gun, or maybe more appropriately Molotov Cocktails.
