I’m only 22, but I already have long stints of anger and sadness because I feel constantly bombarded with ads, policies, and news articles describing how bad I am for being a man, how I need to shut up, move over, make room for some unqualified woman because genitals.
That it’s ok to saw anything about me, but even legitimate criticism towards a women is off-limits.
I live in fear that once I’m successful, I’ll be accused by some random woman of misconduct. I’m scared to marry because I don’t want to lose everything in a divorce court.
I’m tired of being told I need to congratulate women who do things that men already did long ago, or that men do every day. I’m tired of having issues that aren’t taken seriously until a woman experiences it.
I’m tired of being told at University about lies like the pay gap, and needing to shut up if I disagree.
I don’t want to suffer in silence, but I have a hard time. I don’t know where I can even express these feelings besides fringes like this. Must be my straight white male privilege, hey?
