if the lyrics tell an interesting story or makes me laugh (ie: Action Bronson) then im all in. If you rap about that shiny maserati you rented or that overpriced bottle of Ciroc you just poured on your face then im out.

Rappers have the ability to use their skill to make a positive impact on their fans/communities. However they choose to rap about being a thug and glorify drugs, gangs and violence because it makes them sound hard. Kids with limited role models idolize these rappers. I think we underestimate rap’s contribution to society’s downfall. So yeah, I’m not a fan.

I was thinking about music today and the thought that came to my mind was "What is a musical ARTIST". Empahsis on the word artist. I realized how some songs can really be a work of art with the lyrics and musical composition really thought out. However being a music producer myself I know that most of these rappers buy their beats and lack lyrical creativity. Its trendy though so its making money for record companies and right now thats what matters these days vs musical creativity sadly. Old hiphopand rap I like a lot more than todays.

I hate this trend of criminal rap glorifying prison culture, selling crack, shooting people, etc. I think it's getting boring.

I liked gangsta rap the same way I liked Metallica, Pantera, Molotov, or Korn. Gritty music, but with lots of truths, especially about women.

I heard rap a long time ago 70s, 80s, and it sounded very lyrical and improvizational. It had a Shakesperian quality to it. Now it sounds like vicious rants designed for rich white kids to shock their parents.
