I quit weed, social media, caffeine, nicotine, net carbs over 25g a day, league of legends, porn, and most drinking. I did this because I am just like you. I realized that I need to live my life for me and not just gratify myself with pleasure and women and possessions etc. There is a huge difference between pleasure and joy and the latter is much more fulfilling. Maybe you can't.
Your reward system is fucked up and needs to be reset.
This can take a long time.
I believe you need to change socially or at least limit your alcoholic rewards.
If you are using to need, consider replacement with something more benign to your physical health, say, reading, games, music, sports, etc.

Develop a drink to water ratio, I don't really go more than 3 drinks before drinking some water to level out . I usually just ride the buzzed wave for ab it then drink water and maybe continue drinking depending on the logistics of where I am and who I'm with . But yeah just make sure to have water nearby and there's always the budgetary constraints. if you're at a bar only take cash and once the cash is gone you're done . if drinking at home it's a little trickier. maybe create a cup / shot quota you adhere to ?

Sounds like you are trying to give your brain more serotonin. If you are going to be addicted to something to give yourself more serotonin, you should try running. You could also have low testosterone. You should get a blood test. If you have low testosterone no fap for a week or weightlifting will feel awesome.

You could do what i do, measure out how much gets you to what point. I personally drink 118ml of 40% vodka and it puts me right where i want to be. I feel if you know the effect you are going for and how much does it itll stop you from chasing the dragon. The first time always hits the hardest because your receptors in your brain have never experienced a flood of chemicals like that. And you need to keep that in mind. Your addictive personality probably stems from that specifically (not knowing how much you need to get where you wanna be) its like an s curve graph, little amounts do almost nothing medium amounts enough and large amounts taper off the effects

You're probably not the type of drinker to enjoy it in moderation. I'm the same way, due to my past, so I cut it out and replaced it with constructive activities. Too much alcohol too frequently messes you up in all sorts of ways. If you want a better life for yourself you should probably find other things to do. Good luck to you.

It won't work if you live near any stores that sell alcohol. Especially if you would you be at risk of drunk driving to get more? That is the worst possible outcome, so do not put yourself into that situation.

It works fine for me because the nearest alcohol other than what I have is close to an hour drive. I do like having a stock of beer and liquor, but then again my preferred substance is not alcohol.
