Willpower is essential to being a MGTOW. We need willpower to ignore shaming and to not rip off our shirts and show someone our MGTOW back tattoo when someone asks us why we aren't married yet. With everything below, apply the scientific method and see if it works on you before you make a huge commitment towards it.
Exercise
Even a small amount of exercise can increase your willpower. You can start small, literally do anything, and build on it slowly. I’d recommend do something that you can do everyday while you develop the habit. Once you develop the habit, you can increase the intensity and add rest days.
Personal Experience: Cardio seems to increase my willpower more than weight training. Weight training does increase my willpower, but I don’t notice a difference if I do 4 exercises with 4 sets or 7 exercises with 4 sets. 20 minutes of high intensity cardio is equal to 60 minutes of medium intensity. For me, 20 minutes of medium intensity cardio is the most bang for the buck. I do cardio everyday and weight training 3 out of 4 days.
Meditation
Even simple breathing mediation for 15 minutes will help you increase your willpower. Don’t worry if your mind wanders or you have racing thoughts the entire time, mediation still has a benefit as long as you focus on your breathing and remain still. You will get better at it over time and it will become more and more effective at increasing your willpower.
Personal Experience: I don’t gain any extra willpower benefit when meditating over 60 minutes. Anything less than 15 minutes doesn’t have enough of a benefit. I do 40 minutes of meditation everyday.
Going Outside (Sun exposure?)
Going outside and being exposed to nature is said to have an increase in willpower. However, I have noticed that personally the effects depend on my exposure to the sun. If you exercise outside, you can kill two birds with one stone.
Personal Experience: In the summer, 30 minutes outdoors seems to be my maximum willpower benefit. In the winter, if I am outside for hours, I don’t seem to get the same benefit as in the summer for 30 minutes. I thought it may have something to do with vitamin D, but supplementing vitamin D does not have the same effect for me. I should go outside more to take advantage of this willpower increase.
I have read maybe a dozen books on increasing willpower and this one is the best one: The Willpower Instinct
