I never liked this sort of thing, obviously there are IQ differences, but that's a cop out. Most of the "stupid" is a lack of discipline or cultural failures. You don't have to be brilliant to be successful. You don't have to be brilliant to get a degree. You don't have to even be slightly intelligent to do anything. Maybe you'll never be an astronaut or some sort of research scientist, but paying attention in high school can make the world pretty damn comfortable in the future.

Honestly I never gave the idea of IQ much credence. People are skilled at different things.
