It's not actually beneficial in the long run. It destabilizes families with a constant revolving door of Male suitors for single mothers. Divorces make paupers of both parties. Their children lack the stability of a biological father. I understand that the mother doesn't want to settle, but she made that choice when she got knocked up. If the lad doesn't commit, abort the offspring. That's the only grape solution, but the females want to tie down an alpha so they won't. By definition, if the alpha does, she'll beta-ize him and repeat the cycle. There's no winning for her, her offspring, her partners.
