I was talking to an old couple who came to visit us after my grandmother died. They were her nephews.

I'm 24/South Indian, finished medical school, about to enter my Anaesthesiology residency.

These old shit-bricks asked me if I was married or planning to, and when I replied in the negative, they went on a rant about how it is absolutely necessary, how I'll end up alone, how there will be no one to take care of me when I'll be older.. you know, the works.

No amount of countering would stop the fuck-faces, even after saying that the late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, one of our foremost rocket scientists and an ex-president of India, who was a bachelor, is my role model, and that my work will be my legacy, like him.

They also happened to make a jibe about my uncle (who was there with us, BTW), who's in his mid-50's, unemployed, unmarried, and is currently raising a German Shepherd.

Raising my voice a bit, I told them that he's actually intelligent in that he's unmarried, and that a dog is far better than a wife anyways. That's when they finally shut up.

My mom knows I'm against feminism and marriage, but not the fact that I sympathize with the MGTOW ideology.

My question is: did I do anything wrong here? I've never had to go nuclear on nut jobs before, and I am feeling a little gut-wrench for raising my voice.

Advice is welcome.

Edit: Thank you for telling me to stick to my guns. Will do that here after.
