I really wish society would stop with the big ass fetish. Seriously, a big fat ass that shakes when you twerk is not sexy, it's disgusting. Now, I'm white, and I understand that different ethnic groups store fat in different places, but the once upon a time "back" of my youth and Sir Mix-a-lot has turned from "I like big butts" as something that actually was, or may have been depending on an individuals taste, sexy, to just flat out disgusting. Perhaps most noticeably lacking is the itty bitty waist, as it was mentioned in the rap. This is not a racial thing with me, as I have been plenty attracted to, or, "sprung", as the lyrics went, by a large firm posterior on the darker ladies, and that is not what I am talking about. Also, this is not even something I am noticing in black women, but instead most other ethnic or racial groups. It isn't sexy.
I guess after reading that the mean waist size for an North American woman is 38 inches, 6 inches over my own waist (and that is not hips for lady lurkers who want to make an excuse or justification for your own obesity), I came to realize that the cultural phenomenon of large, dare I say massive asses has long since left the realm of another kind of sexy (in my opinion) and delved into just disgusting. The massive, wide, drooping rears on 20 year old girls, or even larger on a 30, or 40 year old, that can barely fit through a standard doorway. The huge ass that is seen on IG "back shots" and so on. The huge twerking ass that continues to jiggle well after the rhythmic hip pulsing ceases.
I know this offends some, and we are entitled to what we enjoy, but the dearth of casually observed small, tight, toned or traditionally sexy rears is becoming all too apparent. What once was normal, is rare, and it is just another symptom of an unhealthy overly obese and proud of it society.
Consider this: When has a massive gut on a man ever been considered sexy? Dad Bod? Please, no one likes that, no matter what lies they spread. a huge fat man with a fat gut is not attractive, and YOU know it! I'm talking to men, as well as lady lurkers. So why is the huge fat ass regarded as sexy? It shouldn't be, not as it has become.
25 years ago a classic and actually funny Simpson's episode lampooned Homer's burgeoning gut when Doctor Hibert paged his nurse to cancel his 1 O'clock because Homer's gut wouldn't stop shaking after he touched it. A cruel joke at the expensive of obese men but one grounded in reality. It's not sexy. When will this myth of huge fat asses finally be scrapped the way removal of ribs for corsetry was 100 years ago?
It isn't like these women, just as obese men are not, are storing a healthy load of adipose tissue sourced from high quality food. No, it's an indicator of an unhealthy body, a metabolically sick individual with high triglycerides, most likely elevated blood glucose levels, decreased insulin sensitivity, and a diet high in refined simple carbohydrates as well as highly processed seed oils with their health reducing inflammatory properties. We're literally celebrating sickness as erotic and sexually attractive!
Yes, much of this is the result of the tilted, dare I say toxic, commodities based food production system which has promoted consumption and helped (mostly) to create an obesity epidemic over the last 30 to 40 years, but anyone who remembers the before times, and anyone who know anything about this is well aware of the problem at hand, and knows that eating garbage is the problem. We need to stop celebrating this!
