Let me just clarify up front, I was not trolling her. I believe and stand by the things I said.

But she got upset by it and I think the whole thing is funny. I think it's funny that she wasn't able to stand up and defend herself. I think it's funny, and sad, that she preferred to continue believing something which she cannot rationally justify.

Here's what happened: I followed a link from r/Drama (I think) into a TwoXChromosomes thread and found a comment which made the following claim:

Many men are offended if a lady opens a door for them

Well, that's just ridiculous. There's no other way to describe it. It's not only not true, it's ridiculous. So I replied, asking her where she got that idea. Predictably, her only response is "personal experience" although she adds, "mine and all of the people I know" - yeah, that's bullshit.

But anyway, since her only reason for believing it is personal experience, I link her to this video in which a (female) mathematician explains that it's possible for people to believe they're observing something, but in fact, they're not - it's all entirely a result of bias - they're not seeing anything at all.

My point was, her "personal experience" is just as much an illusion as the people that video is about. She believes it's true, but it's not. She believes it because of personal biases - we humans are very good at seeing patterns that aren't really there. It's actually very similar to what racists do. They see a thing, and they imagine a pattern that isn't really there. "I see ___ people doing ___ so I believe ___ people are ___" - that's the same logic that racists use. I mean, it is. It's exactly the same.

She also said this:

you are not often afraid of what a man will do if offended.

Let me just tl;dr this for you: she thinks that if she opens a door for a man, he'll be offended, and she is afraid of what he'll do if offended - she's afraid that: open door -> physical violence.

That's the level of delusion that she's built up. Here's an archive of the thread. Don't fucking PM her. If you do, I hope the admins ban you. The reason I say she got triggered is that she posted a followup thread on 2X. Here's a link. Her thread didn't get any traction, but I figure, if she can post one, so can I.

The damage that has been done to male:female relationships - the damage that has led to MGTOW - is caused by just this sort of delusion. Ridiculous, completely irrational fear of men, coupled with a steadfast refusal to critically examine the biases that lead to these delusions.
