I don't have to go over the reasons for not getting involved with women, of course. We all know why. That's why we're here.

However, despite the mountains of evidence, and experience that confirms this evidence, I still can't help but hope there's a NAWALT over the horizon, a woman who "gets it".

Any reasonable analysis of the evidence will say that this "hope" is a delusion. A desire for the world to be a certain way, when it isn't.

It doesn't matter how "aware" I am of the evidence, the desires still exist. That's simply the nature of the human brain.

Say it was scientifically proven that every time you masturbated or had sex, it had a 0.1% chance of causing cancer. Would your sexual desires disappear? No, of course not. It just creates a conflict in your mind where your conscious brain is at odds with your urges.

Point is, despite the reality of the world, the reality of my own brain is incompatible with it.

This conflict must be resolved in some way, or I'm going to be in a haze of uncertainty and unfulfilled desires for the rest of my life.

So, what I'm curious about is, has anyone been able to "supersede" these desires? Or find other ways to fulfil them? Have you been able to reduce their influence in your life? How do you put this matter to rest?
