Section 498A: dowry harassment. Non-cognisable (any random, not necessarily the aggrieved party, can file charges). Leads to immediate arrest of man and his parents. Non bailable. Supreme Court recently almost threw it out because the rate of conviction was 14%, saying there needs to be mediation councils who talk to both parties to determine if legitimate.
