I think a lot of it comes down to wanting to be the "better" one in the relationships.

I have always been what women supposedly want. Fairly fit (though my weight went up a while ago, the gym and diet brought it back in line), decently endowed, educated, gainful employment, etc. The one thing against me is i am short. 5'8", which is all that matters i guess, but - lets stay focused.

Several women i was with said that they were intimidated by me because i could beat them in arguements, was smarter than they were, or was in better shape. One of my ex's said, "i'm supposed to be the pretty one and the smart one". She was attractive and fit, but i was smarter than she was and had better endurance. She said that she wanted a guy with a beer belly so she could be his trophy wife. She said this "in jest", but ended up marrying (and divorcing) a tall, dumb guy with a beer gut.

Its easy to let yourself go and be the fat cow/ex slut when your man is a worthless sack of shit. But if your guy is a good looking, fit, successful, intelligent, decent human being - that means you have to look at yourself as the scum you are. Women can't be wrong in their own mind, so being with a good guy that they would have to compare themselves to every day (and that others would compare them to) is simply not an option.
