Say it with me.... Tattoos are trashy. They also don't make up for lack of character. Both in men and women.

Also, where I come from, 90% of people with tats are thugs and felons. So yeah, I find them really distasteful.

i think its just a combination of pop culture, consumerism and herd mentality. the tattoo boom started in the mid-to-late 90's with all the tribal crap and just blossomed from there. when i was a kid in the 80's it was still pretty widely regarded that people with tattoos were "suspect" or "sketchy" with the exception of tribute stuff, like "RIP Dave" type ink

personally, i think it's more of a punk rock move to not have any tattoos at all. i like art, but as time goes on, my tastes change. i keep my art on the walls of my house, so if i get tired of it, i can just replace it. tattoos can be removed, yes, but its not as easy as taking a picture frame off of a wall.

The idea never made much sense to me. I'm not knocking anyone if they're into it, I don't think it necessarily has to be for women. But I could never shake the idea it's just letting someone else tag up your body like it's a uhaul truck in a bad neighborhood (even somewhat cool looking tattoos I've seen just strikes me as somewhat like graffiti). Definitely not for me.

I've worked in pharmacy for 4 years, and I've seen a lot of patients with tattoos. I'd say probably like 90-95% of them are on medicaid (welfare) to pay for their prescriptions.

I think it's not what you do, but who you do it for.

I doubt all of these young men who are getting tattoos do it solely to impress women, remember getting ink to get into a gang is also common among other reasons.

But there was also that dude who had a false allegation against him. She said he forced her to suck his dick or something. But he had a weird tattoo down there. She would have seen it if she sucked him off. She couldn't tell them what the tattoo was so he was let go.

Some tattoos used to be rights of passage. I’m entitled to a whole slew of nautical tattoos based on total mileage and locations I’ve been in addition to the positions I’ve held, but a large number of hipsters have the tattoos. It was originally a signal to others in the industry, not primarily to females. The soyboys and brodudes figured out most women can’t tell the difference. My welding and machine work scars tell more of a story than these clown’s tattoos. I think tattoos can also limit status signaling in a way, as in cap it at a certain level.
