FAQ: For men going their own way, why do MGTOW talk so much about women?

There are a lot of answers because this is a multi-dimensional question.

Firstly, not just MGTOW, but get a group of men together in general, and what do they talk about? About women and family, about their hobbies and interests, about what they are affected by and what impacts them, including politics, laws, social expectations, jobs, markets, economy, etc, of course!

For the sake of brevity, we can divide these broadly into 2 main categories: Biology and Social.

Biologically, evolution has largely hardwired men to be biologically attracted to women (sexual attraction and reproductive drive) and the odd male that isn't, generally did not pass down their genes.

Socially, humans are social animals, and we have to live by a set of rules and expectations in order to interact with others. Men are indoctrinated from young to obey a set of rules and expectations by society, to follow a path that maximises their utility as providers and protectors. These sets of rules have the protection of women and children as its core primary, which plays into benefits for society (and for women in general) but at the expense of the individual man - if you want good source materials about men's true role and function in society, google 'The Disposable Male' and 'The Myth of Male Power'.

Add both of these drivers, Biology and Social, and this results in the core beliefs of most people that places women first; of the expected self-sacrifice of men; of men being provider and protector (termed as blue-pilled thinking).

Most men are never compelled to face up to the uncomfortable realisation that these beliefs are not in the self-interest of the individual man until something drastic happens (for example, a divorce and seeing first-hand the injustices of the police system and family courts).

The realisation of men's disposability and the facing up to the harsh truths of reality (termed swallowing the red-pill) can be difficult for many individuals as it goes against the core of their beliefs and moral system. Realising that there is no reward to putting women first; that self-sacrifice is harmful to the individual male; that risk of punishment awaits a provider and protector - these can be very difficult truths to swallow. The more difficult the truth, the more it prompts highlighting and discussion.

The very act of highlighting beliefs which are harmful to the individual man, such as marriage and cohabitation, this leads to a cognitive bias from a blue-pilled view-point - firstly, it is difficult to wrap a mind around an idea that goes against ingrained beliefs, secondly it requires insight from the observer that these beliefs are built on the foundation of protection and provision for women.

FAQ: Why so much (anger/denial/depression)? Aren't you all supposed to go your own way already?

The loss of life-long ingrained ideals and beliefs that follows the realisation of harsh truths can be be earth-shattering to the human mind and psyche. Here at MGTOW, we mostly deal with the fallout from that; we deal with men who have been traumatised by seeing how the system and/or women generally treat them as disposable utilities, to the point they begin to question their ingrained beliefs and are beginning to shed these beliefs.

The loss of one's core belief system can be as damaging to the mind as losing a loved one. These men often go through the typical 5 stages of grieving and loss and their phases: first denial, then anger, then bargaining, then depression followed by acceptance. This is the process that we see here - some denial, lots of rage, attempts to bargain, some depressive posts, and some acceptance.

It is a misconception to say all men in MGTOW are already happily going their own way and are all well into the Acceptance phase. This is a process and a support group and like any person who has gone through a loss, there can be slip-ups and the human mind can be prone to fits of emotion, occasionally even MGTOW veterans could slip temporarily into fits of depression or bargaining.

Like any other group, we also have those who are posting their hobbies and interests such as neo-indigenous living or cooking or hiking or pets, etc. however the growth in MGTOW has been exponential and thus we see more of the early stages, usually the angry-rage stage. We also have had veterans who have left to go their own way permanently after finding their inner peace, which tends to skew the ratio of posts to those in the early stages.

Never heard this argument before. Soooo original. We are going our own way and hence can talk about ANYTHING we want. Same as alcoholics taking about booze or cancer patients talking about cancer.
