And you still get no say

So is "biological father" proven by DNA test first?
[–]jhooperp 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Men will find out after the baby is born that the baby isn’t theirs and I bet they won’t be able to sue to get the money back.

No as a court cannot order it before birth.
(2) If a request for genetic testing of a child is made before birth, the tribunal may not order in-utero testing.

I did not say in-utero. Take your pick https://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory/utah-dads-required-pay-half-pregnancy-costs-76877746 https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/04/10/utah-law-requires-fathers-pay-half-mothers-pregnancy-costs/

The statutes I linked were apparently not codified/updated for the recent bill that passed.
In utero: in the uterus : before birth

I do think that a DNA test is required by the law.

At least it says biological dad. Now define what is the “cost of pregnancy”
[–]non-w0ke 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Easy. Cash prepaid house and a nanny.

I thought it was her body?
[–]altair43 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It is, but it is your wallet if she decides to keep the baby even if you didn't want it. You get no say in that.

From what I can tell of UT statutes and code this clickbait title can be easily bypassed in favor of the man if he no longer self identifies as a man, but as the mule he actually is.

How will they enforce that when all she can remember what she saw was chads cock in a the nightclub restroom because she was borderline blacked out drunk.
[–]Kini42 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ah, so now they are not required paying 100% as they did before?
Just another bill to get those „single mothers„ from the states pay roll....
[–]jhooperp 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Does this mean they (men) have a say in keeping the baby or abortion?!
Oh “my body my choice”? Why is it my business then
They should counter that if this bill passed then men need to have the right to agree or not agree to being the father

This obsession with "half" is absolutely ludicrous.
Leaving aside the ethics of demanding anything from the father, the insistence for halfsies on everything never actually addresses how much the mother truly requires. It is as though "half" became a beachhead and lawyers are unwilling to give an inch, because failing to justify the rationale will mean losing that halfway mark for all future court battles.
I know I'm preaching to the choir as this has been the issue at hand with divorce and alimony. I'm just surprised at how lawyers were able to weasel "half" into pregnancy costs without having to explain it. It's just always been that way, for everything else, might as well maintain the status quo in all relationship matters, regardless if it's overkill.
freakin ridickulous
