I’m battling my ex gf in court as we speak. I hired my attorney after he straight up told me “the only ones who are going to win anything here will be me and her attorney”.

I agree! They're not on your side even though you're paying them. The only way I've found to effectively deal with this situation was to learn how it works and do it myself, thereby cutting the lawyer out completely.

I don’t think it’s lawyers thing, but human thing in general. People always favour female over male and lean towards her side. Also, there is no grand scheme for lawyers to sabotage the system to favour themselves from that. It would require all lawyers to agree to this and playing the long game(and we know people are all about that fast gratification), so it sounds as conspiracy.
