Learning web development. I need some advice from fellow IT men.

Personal prefference here: JS sucks, but is trendy.

Here is what you need if you don't want to be some bottom of the barrel webdevelopper:SQL (most important) recommend oracles system best, and jam packed. Also hard to use, so you can learn something.ASPX.: Nice and clean you don't need to use some shitty lame ass garbage JS derivative. If you ever want to learn C you'll fucking pull hair out seeing how JS operates.Look at, and DEEPLY understand what MVC IS(practice it with both java and c#)! IT'S FUCKING IMPORTANT!!!!!Look into what these terms mean and how to avoid them: most important: SQLI, lesser ones LFI,XSS.

Try to learn back end or full stack. I'm a student learning at uni, i'm not even a real programmer yet, but i don't consider front end devs real programmes.PHP is good for beginner too.

Some titbits

More on the SQL. It's good to learn the basics like "select * from bla bla" but if you wan't to be at least decent you'll need to look into what triggers are and you can't do that with MYSQL. I'm serious use the oracle stuff it's a pain in the ass, but that's the best to learn as it's jam packed! Learn the insides and outs of that shit.

On the JS side, i think it sucks ass, but the barrier to entry is low. ASPX and the java version (forgot it's name) are more difficult to use, but i think overall better, and teaches you real programming.

----the SQLI, LFI, XSS are hacking attack vectors and can be EASILY mitigated especially the SQLI and if you don't learn how to prevent SQLI you DO NOT DESERVE A JOB. It's literally 1 line of code.
EDIT:
If there are hacker spaces in your area go to them, they know the ins and outs of web. They break websites for a living

You don't need a degree. I've hired so many people without degrees. I also teach programming at a boot camp. Focus on JS. So many people put down JS and yet people are making money doing JS.

I tend to follow the money. Look online for what people are hiring for and start studying that. React is so popular that it literally is stupid not to learn it.

I do recommend you become a full stack developer. Learn node.js and mongodb and SQL. Put that together with react and you can make a good living.

Direct database access, using object layers, knowing how to structure and parse JSON, all those real app things, also making AJAX type calls to background functions.

Depends on what your goals are. If you're learning for personal reasons then learn whatever is best at doing what you want to do. If you're learning to become employable, then you're going to want to learn what's in demand. Do a jobsearch for programmers in your area, and see what languages are in demand.

Learning web development

Make sure you learn the whole stack, almost nobody will hire you if you con only do a small subset of web dev. I recomend Django and python, which is what a lot of people use. MEAN stacks are popular, google "MEAN Stack".

If you really want to do the REAL FUN stuff, get into embedded. 90% of the jobs are embedded. Also, take your 20k and go to community college and then get a job while doing two more in bachelors program. The old idea that you can get a job without formal education is VERY RARE. There are so many people with degrees, it makes no sense to hire those without. Also, each Level of degree (associates, bachelors, masters) is another 13k per year just about.

Most are poor at SQL. Get good with it and you will have a lifetime of fun unwinding everyone's backasswords data.

Frontend guy here working for 2.5 yrs. As for frontend, nowadays you need to know a lot of stuff (mostly libraries). Dont get too serious with jquery - its an old lib that is used less and less. Learn vanilla js with html and css. Then if you can put a medium project with that, learn react or angular, with webpack (for building), jest, enzyme (for testing), use eslint, learn nodejs or python or ruby or any backend technology. The most important thing is to have projects on your git repository you can show somebody. Be interested in this stuff, experiment and learn.

I'm currently teaching one guy how to do fe - it's a long way however, so you have to be persistent. The first job is the hardest one to get because there is a lot of inexp erienced progrqmmers out there. So you have to stand out somehow.

Edit. Also a good thing is to get somebody more experienced to review your code - you will get shit on it but you will learn a lot from that.

Exit2. As for css, learn css and then sass and then maybe sth about BEM and then css modules/styled components. Sass on their own are shit to manage in large shitty code :p

Learn mobile dev instead. Much easier to get a job and it pays more.
