The BTC people are really something else.
Falls from $17000 to $3500. It's just a price fluctuation!
Goes from $3500 to $4900. Bitcoin bull market!!!
More like a price fluctuation while circling the toilet bowl.

I wouldn't write it off yet and those "fluctuations" made me a ton of bank 😂

You can make money even off a dead cat bounce and the bitcoin market is literally a textbook example of one.

That's not how it works. It didn't "fall from $17000 to $3500". It went up from ~$1000 to ~$4000 over two years, with a blip somewhere in the middle. Yes, it's a bit more extreme than the stock market, but it's the same thing. Two years is a tiny amount of time in the market.

Tell that to the people that paid $17000 per bitcoin. And there were people that bought bitcoin at $17000 / each. You can call it a "blip" but if it hit that price then that's what it was valued at. Then the drop to $3500 is again, the price it was valued at. The fact that people paid $17,000 per bitcoin at one point in the recent past and then not long after paid only $3500 per bitcoin is something to consider as it is an indicator for volatility. Volatility that can screw over anybody that buys in at any time, because nobody knows what the price will be. I think we can safely say that it won't be at $17,000 again for a long time, if ever, based on the current trend lines.

All assets are volatile, but some are more volatile than others. It's all a matter of perspective. If someone bought in at $17k with cash they won't need for 20+ years then they haven't lost anything yet. I'm not saying they won't, but they haven't lost anything yet.
BTC was massively overvalued at $17k. That's why I sold my holdings at that price point because I also doubt that it will reach that value again. But my reasons are technical. The blockchain technology that drives BTC is fundamentally flawed and cannot support the kind of use that would make BTC valuable. But can it support the kind of use to justify the current value? Yes, probably.
