she quit her job shortly after moving in "due to stress issues", yeah right, she got herself an ATM and figured she could coast. Then she started spending his money because he was stupid enough to put her on the account with $35k of liquid assets. He was also totally stupid for paying $15k towards her debt. if he kept this money separate he would have had his cushion. He will not be able to get this money back since the courts will see the money as joint assets (her name was on the account).

He needs to drain the account of that last $5k and close it and keep her off his bank accounts. She needs to get herself back to work and carry her own ass.
