Woman earns $100, takes credit $25, buys $155 item for $125 and says : I saved $30.

That's ridiculously unrealistic; no woman would ever do that.*

Here's how it would actually go down:

Woman earns $100. Goes shopping and finds dress that she wants, last week the same dress was $100, and a few weeks from now when it's on clearance it will probably be $30... but that doesn't matter, what matters is that right now it's being heavily advertised as "on sale" for just $130 (down $25 from what the tag says is the normal price of $155).

Problem? The woman only has $100... wait, what does that sign say?

"Sign up for a new 'instant-issue' store credit card a get an immediate $5 cash-back reward for any initial purchase over $100"

So, what was a problem is now no problem at all, she signs up for and puts the $130 dress on the new card; asks for and gets the $5 off as a "cash back"... and then proceeds to spend $80 on a new purse from the next store down, and blows another $20 on some Pad Thai takeaway (because with the shopping and all, she's too tired to cook, plus she deserves a "break" you know), but she still has that $5 that she got as a "reward."

And the next day she'll be telling all her friends about how she saved $30 by purchasing that dress on her new store credit card (and for every $1,000 she charges, they'll give her another cash-back reward of $5... can you believe that?)

* Silly MAN, you never combine cash AND credit for one purchase; that just needlessly complicates things -- I mean someone would need to like do "maths" stuff and everything. No, the rule is that if the purchase is more than you have in cash then you put the entire thing on credit, that way you can spend the cash on other things.

look at how companies spend, borrow & report too.

As Mr. Leahy would say, when ya slide down the shit-rope and tumble into those fields of shit you see the shit-apple didn't fall very far at all from the shit-tree.

When the legal contracts on the loans/credit don't require you to lose property and in fact leave you at most exposed to collections and bad credit, if you don't actually need credit to live (I don't), then the math means you actually get free money out of the unsecured credit cards because there's no liability for "paying very little, very very, very late"

Wife will buy something she doesn't need for $5 because it's on sale, or if she's trying something out, she'll buy the absolute cheapest tool/item required. Then she'll get bored/discouraged because she doesn't have the tools she needs to excel, and will either quit (making what she spent a waste) or buy the thing she needed in the first place (still making what she spent a waste).

THEN she has the nerve to tell me I spend too much on whatever it is, when I purchase quality shit and use the absolute fuck out of it.

Yeah, I spent $200 on a bat. I've also used that bat more than you've used the last 10 things you bought...combined...

I watched my last girlfriend blow thru literally hundreds of thousands of dollars (from her divorce settlement). Her alimony alone was $6,000/month FOR LIFE and she never saved any of it.... spent it all. Unbelievable amount of wasted money on clothing and luxury automobiles, things like flying her entire family to Hawaii for a couple weeks. I tried to help her with the whole concept of saving and budgeting. I set up a basic spreadsheet for her to track income and expenses. Problem was "cognitive dissonance". It was too painful and discomforting for her to see the actual numbers and she just could not face it and would blow up in anger any time I brought it up. Drove me crazy to watch this insanity. This financial cognitive dissonance is a problem for a lot of men as well but a much bigger problem for women. I think deep down at a subconscious level practically all women expect to be bailed out by men
