In traditional ancient societies worldwide, marriage had always originally existed as a means of allying two families together; for the purpose of expanding each family’s sphere of influence and overall labor potential (through in-laws,) “Love” was never really a motivating factor in marriage.
This same traditional still somehow has managed to carry over into modern society because it is simply that; a tradition.
Men everywhere are fooled by fictional imagery in film, their peers, families, friends and especially the women they date into thinking that marriage is about undying and unconditional love. Women are not fooled in this same way. Women consciously know that they need to play along and be complicit in the deception that marriage is for love.
Marriage used to be mutually beneficial for two families; hundreds/thousands of years ago. Now, in marriage, the man and his side of the family benefits nothing, and the woman’s side of family only has something to gain.
Why is this ancient tradition not being questioned until now? Why has it not been completely abolished?
