Marriage has never been for some made up bs called love. People forget that for the longest time, marriage was nothing but a business transaction. The whole "falling in love and marrying the person of your dreams" bit is a very recent custom. For thousands of years before that, marriage went like this:

A father would find a man that he felt would make a suitable husband for his daughter. If the man agreed to the arrangement, the couple would be married and the father would pay a dowry as a financial kickstarter for the couple. From then on, the man was financially responsible for providing for the woman until death did them part. Divorce was illegal in order to keep the man from going back on his word and trading the woman in for a newer and better looking model down the road. It had nothing to do with love. Whether or not the two loved each other was irrelevant.

Today it's still a business transaction, but it goes like this: The man puts all of his money, assets, and parental rights on the line, and whenever the woman decides she wants out, she gets to take everything. The man then spends the next several decades in financial slavery, likely shelling out half or more of his check in child support and alimony, and is at the mercy of his ex-wife as to if and when he gets to see his kids.

Marriage today for men is the equivalent of laying their head on a chopping block, handing the woman an ax, and then praying that she doesn't bring it down on his neck. That isn't even the scary part. The scary part is that divorce courts actually make it an incentive for her to do it. What sane person would want to enter into an agreement with someone that not only gives that person the power to destroy their life, but rewards them If they choose to do so?!
