So this very attractive girl who worked with me for about a year and hardly said anything to me until one day a couple months ago she gleefully said "you're an artist?!". She had discovered my Instagram which had some of my art.

All of a sudden she wanted to talk to me all the time. This is the only thing I regret. I played with the idea of asking her out and I gave her an inch. We talked a bit but then I realized we had an incredibly different worldview. She was a Christian who believed in mystical stuff and I was an atheist. Problem was I couldn't just say that I was an atheist because we worked at a faith based charity. Having those kind of rumours going around would be career suicide. And I've learned not to trust anyone with that kind of shit.

So I thought "how can I get her to not like me?" Because I'm a man I'm sure I would break eventually if she persisted enough. Then it dawned on me she's very attractive and has dudes after her all the time. So I should accentuate the aspects of myself that would make me appear to be one of those guys. So counter to what I would normally do, I simply acted overly kind and sympathetic to her. And would text her things randomly like "hope you're having a great day!". I pushed myself just passed the line.

I think it worked. Over the past month it seemed she got tired or bored of me. She wasn't excited to see me anymore. And then yesterday I saw she got a boyfriend on Facebook.

Mission accomplished.

Now my problem is that I actually played the part too well. She is still occasionally texting and talks to me when I really just don't give a fuck. I would be fine with being her friend but she's just kind of self centred and not someone I particularly care to be around.

TIFU by friendzoning myself but not wanting anything to do with her.
