My entire life I'd been fed the idea of holding down a stable job in order to provide for a wife and kid(s), and I ate that crap right up. Despite the fact that I viewed myself as some sort of rebel by going against the "popular" culture at my high school at the time, looking back I realize that I still subconciously determined my own self-worth by the amount of attention females gave me. As a somewhat overweight nerd that was way better at fantasy football than the real thing, you can imagine what girls, and thus I, thought of myself.
I convinced myself that college would be different, as the women would be more mature and would appreciate my intelligence and personality, but I was let down once again. Just this afternoon I overheard a group of girls talking about how attractive some douchebag (their word, not mine) in a relationship was for flirting with someone in a different relationship. One even commented that she saw losers as some sort of lost souls that she needed to save. I'm a pretty successful person, if I do say so myself, so of course I need not apply for her affection.
My career goal had long been to pursue law school after completing my undergradute studies, but through a series of events I have realized what should have been apparent to me all along: my passion is playing music. I've been playing bass guitar for about seven years now and it's the one thing that makes me happy regardless of the circumstances. I guess you could call my relationship with music that "unconditional love" that so many people on TRP say doesn't exist. I'm now on track to get a bachelor's degree in accounting before pursuing a master's and CPA certification, but that's honestly just my back-up plan if my bass can't pay the bills.
For the first time in my life, I am truly happy. I'm done trying to play roles written for other actors, as it's much more fun to improvise your own lines. What I'm getting at is that this community and others like it have made me realize that there is way more to life than I was originally searching for, and the future is much brighter than it was just a few months ago. In a sense, MGTOW saved me. We may be going our own ways, but it's always nice to know that you're not walking the path alone. Rock on brothers!
