The theory about women and gender relations is pretty much the same, however TRP still continues to pursue women while MGTOW decides that modern women aren't worth it.

TRP is all about learning about the "mousetrap" of women with the goal of attempting to steal the cheese (i.e. reshape your life to obtain temporary, ephemeral "one night stand" access to pussy on behalf of your dick) -- ideally without having the trap "spring" on you and crush you to death in one form or another (i.e. rape or date rape accusation, woman getting preggers and setting the courts/cops on you to garnish your paycheck, etc etc).
MGTOW is all about recognizing that the "cheese" in that mousetrap ain't all that tasty to begin with, and really isn't worth the risk -- and that your "BIG Head" (the one between your ears) ought to be in charge of your life in a rational logical fashion -- and not give control over to satisfying the (fleeting, impulsive) demands of your "Little Head" (the one between your legs).

Personally i separate theredpill subreddit and "the red pill" as metaphor, because the subreddit doesn't fully reflect the genuine meaning of the metaphor.

The red pill as metaphor means only knowledge (as it was in the movie where it was taken from - The Matrix)

theredpill subreddit in addition to knowledge also discuss what to do to increase efficiency of sexual relationships with girls. Which is basically PUA.

So, Red pill as metaphor could be applied to mgtow also.

TL:DR People have twisted definitions and now they don't mean much for anyone but those who will dig deeper.

MGTOW sole purpose is make sure that men leave their lives fully, peacefully and do whatever things they like.

TRP is about seeking validation. The think themselves as some kind of lunatic animals and try act on their impulse. All the TRP doing is mixing whiskey with vodka under the delusion that it give them kick and super powers. TRP thinks pump and dump as many as they can get makes them special. In reality we all are the same fucking crap of this fucking universe. Nothing makes us special.

To my mind, mgtow falls under the trp banner as follows.

The red pill is merely the understanding of female nature, hypergamy, the damage done to men, etc. Under the red pill heading, you find pua's who still try to pay the game and you have mgtow who choose not to participate. Both pua and mgtow are part of the mgtow family, but take red pill knowledge in opposite directions.

I like TRP on paper, but when you go to the actual sub, they spend so much time and effort trying to fuck girls to build up their alpha card. It seems like it's just a bunch of little dick foot ball players trying to flex their nuts. I really do like their ideals, but they lingo they use, and the overly alpha "gotta fuck chicks, bro!" mindset is exhausting.
