Thread/post for minor accomplishment celebration - what are yours this month/week?

  • For the first time, I was able to truly visualize my opponent when shadowboxing at the gym for an extended session, complete with blocks, dodges, and what surprised me the most: simulating what it felt like to actually get hit from actual sparring, but from the shadow I was visualizing/sparring against. Even though there wasn't an physical opponent there, I really felt the blows because in my mind, the threat was real and I was clearly visualizing how my opponent was moving and attacking.
    • Apparently this is a legit/real thing from some anecdotes from the internet and talking to one of the regulars that I spar with sometimes at the gym - if you perceive your shadow that you are boxing/fighting as a legit threat, you move in the same way you would vs a physical opponent, to the point where other people will sometimes stop and watch/be captivated, and they can also kind of see your shadow from how you move/react to them. It's some otherworldly shit that I can't fully explain - it may be something that you have to experience yourself to truly understand what it's like, but holy fuck was it an experience. Definitely looking forward to future training/sparring sessions.
