Politically Correct. Defined as conforming to a belief that language and practices which could offend political sensibilities (as in matters of sex or race) should be eliminated

Politcally Correctness is a term oft used by SJW and weaklings of the like.

Just moments ago, I got into a minor debate regarding the Florida shooting that transpired during Validation Day. I'm not usually vocal about current events but It's after lunch and I'm feeling a little sociable today.

This morning, whilst looking at my google chrome homepage, I came across the mugshot and name of Cruz and proceed to note his attributes and last name, ultimately coming to the conclusion that he was of spanish heritage. "Eh, okay." I didn't think too deeply about it. Only an observation of who he was.

So in the mentioning of it, someone chimed "Hey, that's stereotyping."

Perplexed by that accusation, I inquired how it was at all "sterotyping?"

"The last name Cruz doesn't mean that he's hispanic."

"Well, I didn't look into it too much, but from his looks and his last name, I've gathered that he was hispanic, but if he's not then it's whatever." What he did was inhumane nonetheless.

I couldn't care less about the kids heritage in the actuality of the situation, but alas, making the observation of who he is or who I assumed he is, was deemed as stereotyping.

Said person used an anecdote of knowing a white person with the last name Ramirez.

"Okay." I replied. That is nevertheless a spanish last name.

"Tom Cruise." "His surname is spelled like Cruise ship." (I don't know if he was talking about him, I literally just found out there's a Tom Cruz from googling the name out of curiosity.)

He responded "Well when I think about your last name [insert my last name, which hails from Wales] I think of a Black person.

I responded by saying that I don't, seeing as though it is Welsh, I think of a white person. And that's no big deal to me. Statistically, more white people have the last name. That's what I go by. Using personal anecdotes instead of facts does one no good in the end. (Or perhaps in the past since feelings are more agreed upon these days...) I know plentyful of black people with the last name Johnson and yet here we still have majority of Whites with the same last name.

Another person chimed in and announced that her surname before her divorce was hispanic and I respectfully told her that if I hadn't seen or knew who she was, I would assume that she was hispanic based on the evidence that her last name was hispanic. She retorted "exactly," but I'm not [hispanic] so you shouldn't assume.

But I know her as she is now, so that doesn't help. I was becoming a little agitated that I was even getting into surnames, even though I enjoy researching origins and heritage of history.

As I said earlier in my post, I've seen the picture and name of the shooter so that's how I came to the conclusion, so in my viewpoint, what she had to say didn't seem like a strong counter point to what I sought as my question stated.

Is it sterotyping if I've seen a picture of someone and know the name of them? The debater said he hasn't even seen the picture until I showed him. He then said he could be from Mexico BRAIN PALMS

I explained to them that I don't see it as sterotyping, rather it was me deducing my justifications by using evidence that was given to me in my observation. As a store owner would do to a thief when giving a description to the proper authorities. I won't be politcally correct about something so juvenile as a physical description and surname. We're in the Military. There are worse things than this.

They said I should be PC and I couldn't help but begin to ponder on how having the PC mindest is aiding destruction of the world we live in and how counterproductive it can be.

From being stressed to use gender neutral pronouns to not being able to describe someone's heritage based on evidence. How would crimes be solved when someone can't properly describe the suspect? "They were a person." Fuck that. That's mindless pussyfooting. I call it how I see it unless I'm given factual evidence to back it. That's the only way to actually change what I thought was true as a logical human being.

What are your thoughts on the world becoming so politically correct? For better or worse? For me, I say worse.
