I got caught out in a blizzard, back in the '70s thought this is it , I can't see the way forward or backward on the track. I was on my hands and knees trying to find the edge of the path. The disorientation is real. I got lucky. The blizzard cleared but while it lasted the silence was very peaceful.

Every few years we are given the opportunity to elect a saviour who will deliver us out of uncertainty into a world of relative affluence. The electorate is then led into a state of euphoria and anticipation as the results come in , and when all the winners and losers go home the volunteers can sweep up the crumbs from the party.

I liked the athletic leisure wear comment. Can't eat out during lockdown but when I did most of the couples the guys all looked as if the wife dressed them .

The News is totally Absurdity personified. It is only worth hearing about the histrionics of the commentators and Joe public who worry themselves into a pit of anxiety over issues which don't pertain to themselves. I don't do sarcasm or schadenfreude because that's measuring oneself against those less fortunate and the news lends itself to that. Going your own way is just that. Your own way not someone else's way.

Protect yourself at all times. The emphasis on yourself because complacency kills. I find it no hardship to wear a mask ,put on a lifejacket, or wear a seatbelt. All part of looking after oneself.

It does. Wanting to be liked by everyone is a burden. Knowing oneself, ones abilities and limitations and thus living within these parameters curbs ambition for ambitions sake.

As a teenager in the sixties I thought that all the social norms I had been taught were absurd. I was never a social animal just had dates with various girlfriends until we drifted apart and I'd move on eventually to the next as and when. I preferred to engage in activities which were interesting or financially rewarding in the short term. I got married in my late thirties separated two years later divorced eventually. My second marriage produced a son of whom I'm sure is red pilled. To sum up I…

The royal family is top heavy with dimwits. There's a useful requirement for a head of state even if they're unelected but they should be cost effective.

From a security point of view it's useful to have someone on the property when you're away. There's just rent instead of a mortgage but a certain lack of autonomy.

I discovered this as a 7 year old expected to work/help my dad just an hour or two over the weekend. As I grew older my mom insisted I get paid which was fair enough but in my teens I grew resentful that I didn't get any input or explanation for why my suggestions were sneered at. I was into activities which didn't include socialising although if need be I was quite a conversationalist. The aspirant proles and middle classes in the UK love the stability and honours the monarchy bestows upon them. A reduction in personnel in these impoverished times is long overdue. However nepotism is rife and as one prince goes another is waiting to be rehabilitated along with the ugly sisters. Intellectually they'd be lost without highly qualified advisors. I await the spin on the prodigal sons' return.

Amazing how this slavery is taken for granted. Being aware isn't enough it's the ability to say no I'm not a slave. One of the reasons why women don't want a man with hobbies, when he should be concentrated on her.

I used to think I was fit, running 3/4 times per week, calisthenics and mountain biking on other days. Then I volunteered to do a three hour farm labouring job to help someone out. Never again. There's a disturbing effect when in contact with heavily made up people male or female but more so with medium cosmetic changes. The uncanny valley kicks in when your subconscious is trying to tell you something is wrong and you need to find the answer.

One of my neighbours back in the day was a multi millionaire retired guy with a career girlfriend . Spent his time redecorating and landscaping his property. Banned from flying his single engined monoplane and very rarely allowed out but when he was it looked like she'd dressed him from a clothing catalogue. Whereas we'd be in whatever we could put on at the last minute. Women like to dress their partner.

I quit alcohol at 28 , took up running ,orienteering and started eating a balanced diet. But I didn't save much money as I should have. I had two major ones. The first was going to a wedding in Cyprus for a stepdaughter which I initially refused. I don't do heat. The already married daughter persuaded her husband to go eventually even bought him an appropriate suit, I bought my own. Following this the females decided to go to Australia for a family visit but this time I and another guy flat out refused to go. Strangely enough we were the first two to get divorced so we failed the test.

Not self improvement but simply the joy of exercise and sport for its intrinsic value. There are plenty of self improvement books and courses available and I haven't read or been on any unless work demanded that I go on them. Satisfying ones curiosity is something else. The excitement of discovery is worth the effort.

There's a scene in that awful show Homeland when the protagonist tries to blackmail a Saudi diplomat over his homosexuality and he says so what tell the world or words to that effect. I subscribe to "lagom" or just enough. Low maintenance in forward planning is a priority and a healthy cash flow leads to a comfortable lifestyle as long as it's self centred. The feminist sales pitch is aimed at breeding dissatisfaction with the nuclear family unit. Stay at home mothers are somehow deprived of the opportunity to be a career woman with all the benefits. You can have it all! Nope because you're not physically or mentally up to it. Know your limitations because the consequences are wine whining and cats.

The most enjoyable visits abroad have been work. Compared to holidays with my partners whereby we saw the tourist sites, took photos, over ate hotel food and spent lots of money. I'd come back and think what did that achieve? Didn't recharge my batteries. Everyone is entitled to blow their savings in the tourist industry which is why it exists just another bill of goods, a distraction from the real world waiting for you on return.

Part of the problem is the development of self awareness in ones teenage years, the peer group socialising and role model aspirations. That's going to be the way legislation will go. Politically it means in essence that the state has control over your body in the same way the security services have over your DNA. From a business point of view organs can be harvested and exported on a reciprocal arrangement this means that it's open to corruption at the highest level with the caveat that it's for humanitarian purposes.

Playboy has enabled women to use demeaning tactics within a relationship by promoting their right to orgasm through extensive fore play. In the past if you didn't spend time and money getting her in the mood then you weren't up to much. Not all women are bothered about having an orgasm, they'd rather go shopping, get drunk or eat pizza. Orgasms are like exercise or being in a draughty room, uncomfortable and best avoided. The female orgasm is a stick with which to beat men .

The one I use is next to a college, only ever seen one other guy use it in 5 years I've been here. Free as community partnership but no weights apart from your own body. I've been cycling and body weight exercise since the early '70s just ticking over, don't do gyms anymore, but it's the weekend, and I'm off for a ride in the city. The countryside will be quiet during the week.

Even if you visit regularly the chances are you won't be there at the crucial time. Not that I want to go out in a nursing home or hospital much prefer dying alone, but you never know. I've attended two road traffic incidents where both people died on the spot, never suffered more than a few minutes. I'm not a paramedic just happened to be close by. Technically they didn't die alone.

I try and have 3 books on the go simultaneously, pulp fiction crime thrillers usually, because the mental exercise in keeping abreast of the plot and characters is a beneficial exercise. The NHS is a business which is run by the government and being a sacrosanct institution cannot fail. Campaigners demand ridiculous services from it thus diminishing the emergency life saving resources. Cut out the homeopathic, the worst deal purchases, the gastric bands, sex changes, and excessive salaries for female administration but most of all the "worried well " patients mostly female and then it might be able to function as a going concern.

Repetitive work such as drystone walling is therapeutic as is hedge laying ( a good way to get your arms scratched to hell) . Physical work in the great outdoors can be fantastic as long as the weather is kind. I once spent a few hours stacking bales of hay , a task I found physically demanding because of the weight of each bale, unlike straw which I could have handled all day. I think being confrontational an making an ass of myself is just part of my personality tempered by ex colleagues who remind me not to get too objectionable. Still it's only twice a month and then I can return to my own world. Internalising dialogues is one way to go I guess. Even heated arguments,I can't take seriously because I'm doing it for the fun of it.

I practice my social skills twice a month in order to ensure that I can still engage with others should the need arise. It's just low level training and requires a lot of effort on my part since I find it tedious unless I can introduce a topic which causes bafflement. I'm sure that when I depart they're relieved . This is just another nail in the coffin. A constant reminder that equal opportunity and equal rights became in the vernacular we're all equal and a medal for everyone. Just slightly off topic I heard a woman describe how she ran a marathon, turns out it was a 5k, most likely a walk.

Equal rights and equal opportunity are not the same thing as everyone is equal. Give the mob an inch and it will assume you're weak and take the mile. The next thing is positive entitlement to fulfill virtuous quotas.

I ditched ( metaphorically) the mirror and actually the scales. Callisthenics, jogging, fartlek, and cross country mountain biking because Ilike these activities and can usually do them whenever I feel like, something one or more everyday. I'm 68 and want to remain active as long as possible, to never give up on exercise not because of appearance but just to feel good about myself. Thanks for posting.

Social media and the media in general present idealistic role models for men and women which are unattainable. The sense of failure engendered and the feeling of being judged by ones peers leads to isolation. Not everyone can say "so what, I don't give a flying fuck". Moving on and dumping all the baggage, reinventing yourself is the provenance of politicians. It seems to be effective.

Agreed. One winter I had 9 days of shovelling snow out the driveway,3 hours a shift, you get into a rhythm. Wife terrified of driving in the snow so afterwards had to wait for the snowplough and follow it out the village. Best part though was the silence while out with the dog, the snow just absorbed all sound.
