I put the seat down because my Dad is blind and growing up, on the occasion it would be left up and he’d not check it’s position, him getting a cold ass full of porcelain and falling in the John never went down well. So if there’s any reason to do it, it’s a nice courtesy for blind guys so they don’t have to go grabbing at the seat before unloading.
