I worked in IT for two decades. It was a sweet, sweet gig. Mainframe Analyst/Programmer/Database Administrator/EDI consultant. I worked 24/7/365 for 20 years. Made bank. Sweet, sweet bank. Retired 42-52, got my nursing license and went back to work at 52. Third shift at a SNF, I get paid to watch people sleep.

Everything everyone else has suggested, plus, learn Excel or some other spreadsheet program. Use it for planning and budgeting everything — money, time and energy. You can't manage what you can't measure. Good luck!

When I first moved out I found a lot of fresh veg going off before I could use it so only buy what you'll use in a couple of days. Just budget for expenses, track your savings, don't get pressured into expensive leisure activities. Learning a few simple meals like chili con carne, roast meats and vegetables, choice meat/veg with brown rice is my go to. Anything you can cook in bulk and have 3-4 days meals to heat up will save you money because you won't be impulse buying takeaway.

Do invest in a good computer chair if you spend a lot of time there, good bed and blacking out your room for best sleep.

Don't go out if you can avoid it. Be social with friends in public or someone's house. You'll save thousands every year on bars and restaurants.

FL is loaded with floozies. You will be sorely tempted to blow all your cash on some piece of ass who looks good in a thong. Resist! Keep your money!

Reduce wear and tear on things you own wherever possible. try not to drive everywhere, carpool, etc. use fans instead of AC as much as you can stand, electricity can get expensive. connect your stuff to surge protectors and shut them off when you go to sleep at night to prevent vampire electronics driving up your bill. hang up your freshly washed jeans and towels instead of running them through the dryer, they take forever and eat up $. wash your clothes with cold water to save $ (unless you're at laundromat in which case who cares.)

find a good discount grocery store in your area (it's usually where the immigrants shop) and get a week or two of groceries at a time. chicken thighs are just as tasty as breasts and cheaper. pork chops cost half as much as beef.

examine every single transaction you make and try to reduce or eliminate it. month over month you should see significant reductions, especially if you get your roommates on board too (but that's a whole other barrel of monkeys.)
