Tanzania claim to have made $75million (£57.1million) between 2008 and 2011 from hunting permits alone (60 per cent of which were bought by hunters from the USA).

This revenue is then used to fund conservation projects to help local wildlife.

Tanzania now has the highest African lion population in the world, which they claim is an indirect result of allowing trophy hunting.
