I've said it before and I'll say it again: Equality of opportunity harms equality of outcome over the long term.

You can have one or the other but never both and an admission that this competitor doesn't qualify as a woman is essentially saying she isn't a woman.

Feminists in general are going to have a hard time reconciling this because:

If men and women are actually equal, why do they compete separately?
If men can actually become women (and vice-versa) then why bother competing separately?
Whats wrong with men consistently beating women at sports, if both sexes are equal?
If differences in the sexes demonstrate inequality in sports, surely that applies in other areas of life too?

I strongly believe the end result of honestly reflecting upon these questions is the acceptance that feminism is no longer about equal opportunities but trying to ensure equal outcomes for naturally unequal people, which is the exact opposite of what we refer to as equality.
