It's so sad. Usually, guys "mansplain" things to prevent the embarrassing scenario where the other person has to admit they don't know something, and then you have to walk them through it anyway. Explaining things by default saves time, helps the other person save face, and helps to make sure you're on the same page. It's just an overall considerate thing to do.

There was a perfectly reasonable word for this phenomenon before. The word is "patronize".

The only reason feminists decided on a new word is so they can implicitly state that only men - or possibly all men - are patronizing, whereas women are not.

This is sexist, and it's fucking dumb.

Mansplaining was an invention by women to be able to rationalize their childish, emotional bullshit arguments (spouted as loudly and as attention-whory as possible) getting stomped by calm calculating logic.

hahaha, simply because we have a word for something it must exsist right? Reminds me of an old theological god proof, how can we have the word god if there is not god, therefore god must exist because we have the word for god. The same agrument can be made with ideas, but alteast that argument is stronger cause it does not play on the field of res extensa existing but possible res cogito existing, or even an other attributes (if you use spinoza terms).

Mansplaining is men being smart enough to hold forth on an esoteric topic that makes women's gossip brains shut down. That whole boring bit in the middle that makes you want to run for the exit, girls? That's the logic and argumentation. Other men are listening to that.

Funny how women come up with all these words and ideas they feel they need to “educate” men on, but there are absolutely no newly created ideas and words that women need to learn. As soon as a man says that women need educating on certain things, you’re gonna be viewed as sexist. Women think they know everything, and believe they can’t be wrong.
