I am going to tell you a short story... but it must remain secret.
After all, it’s illegal.
In our modern world, it is illegal to share stories of this nature, that have not undergone a thorough fact-checking algorithm and lack the official Stamp of Approval from the Department of Truth.
Publishing this short story could cost me 5 years in jail. Reading it, up to 3. Proceed at your own risk.
Ok, here it goes...
...
It is the early 1900’s.
A young man is riding on a bus in West Virginia.
He has just clocked out of railroad work and is heading home.
While on the bus, he spots a woman with dark hair, dark eyes, olive skin, and quietly sitting two rows in front.
He finds her attractive!
She gets off at the next stop, but the stop is not his. Making a quick decision, he gets off too, walking after her.
“Good evening Miss!“
Startled, the woman turns around, “May I help you?”
“I noticed you on that bus and... I think you are awfully pretty. May I take you out for a shake?”
The woman blushed and said, “No, thank you, but I am not interested”.
She proceeded to walk home.
Not taking “No thank you” for an answer, the man continued to walk with her.
“Are you sure? It will be a swell time! And I’m a gentleman!” he said proudly.
“Well, I thank you for your offer, but I said I’m not interested”, she responded.
Confused, he said, “Now that’s just strange. I never heard of a lady turning down a milkshake!”
Reaching the last block before her house, she finally turned toward the man and said, “Fine! I will go for a milkshake with you. Now will you stop asking?”
...
The man and woman joined each other for milkshakes, and never separated again. They married under God and went on to have 5 children, who went on to have 9.
The husband and wife lived up into their late 80’s.
When she became ill, her husband and children placed her in a nursing home. The husband visited his wife every single day. The wife would eventually die in the nursing home, surrounded by her family.
Her last words were, “I’m ready Jesus”.
Enduring only a year and a half more, the husband finally gave into God’s plan, and rejoined his wife in Heaven.
...
The man in this story... was my Granddad. The woman, my Grandmother.
I felt it necessary to share this short story of their meeting with you because, well, there was a time in this country where a man and woman would forego all others, and love each other for the rest of their lives.
Now... not so much.
The headlines over the next few days will certainly drag the divorce of a famous couple we have all heard about. But, I’d like you to ignore the headlines, just this once. Ignore their divorce, and remember my story:
In the early 1900’s, a simple man, pursued a simple woman, after he noticed her on a bus, in a small town, in the hills of West Virginia.
Remember that story.
...
Finally, please do not share this story with anyone. I do not want to go to jail. The algorithms will almost certainly label this story as ‘misinformation’, and possibly ‘misogyny’, but I am hoping they will pass over this story as mundane.
I just wanted all of you, my brothers, to know... these kinds of relationships did exist. There certainly was a time in this country, where people chose one person, and stuck with them until God called them home.
Thank you.
