Oh man...

This was me 8 years ago.

Also where I'm from, co-habitation is marriage. De facto marriage.

I used to think the same thing...

...Until the problems of marriage started to become the problems of dating.

If you are against marriage because of her ability to take half your stuff, plus child support, plus DV accusations, plus rape accusations, it doesn't require much research to see that every single one of these problems is creeping into dating as well.

Cohabitation--or even just a long string of support--will be grounds enough to seek "palimony."

A lack of a wedding vow will in no way protect you from paternity fraud or child support.

You are always a bad mood away from a false accusation, even if you are just dating.

And the expense? It is just the same, if not greater, when you are trying to impress women who aren't so easily impressed on the open dating market. When two weeks in Rome isn't enough to keep her interested, because the guy on Facebook is offering three weeks in Paris, you figure out that the "sexual selection arms race" has no winners, only losers.

When you see that the risks of dating are becoming just as bad as the risks of marriage, you can't see yourself going your own way and dating at the same time.

And when you figure out dating is no better than marriage, it's just a small step to see that casual sex is no less risky than dating; all the risks are still there, just as bad as dating and marriage, and are getting worse because of misandrist laws and culture.

To tell you the truth, I really do not see much of a qualitative difference between the problems with women in marriage, the problems with women in dating, and the problems with women who sell their bodies.

It isn't like you are any safer from STDs if you are in a marriage...your wife will just bring one home with her.

It isn't like you are no longer obligated to "game" women if you marry them; they'll just say "the magic is gone" and separate if you don't game them 24/7. You even have to game prostitutes these days, since it's a seller's market, and the professional can be choosy thanks to apps like "Seeking Arrangement."

And certainty of paternity? Women can declare anyone they want as the father, so long as they sleep with them around the time. And this holds true for casuals, swingers, prostitutes, girlfriends, FWBs, wives and former wives.

That's not how I define MGTOW. I define it as "having nothing to do with women socially, romantically, or sexually". Not getting married does not protect me from false allegations of rape or abuse, or state imposed cuckoldry.

Marriage is definitely out. Also, white knighting in any form is out. Basically, the MGTOW should strive to be in a position where society gives more to him than he gives back society.

I'm cautious of living together as well after last time.. If I do that again I'm moving in with them and renting out my house so I can leave instead of trying to make them leave..

I see mgtow as idgaf.. I'll date, but I'm sure as fuck not going to pussy beg

similar but different here OP I am willing to date/marry but I never meet girls who are suitable, so I'm MGTOW by default kind of because most women act like men and it's not attractive or enjoyable to be around (and in some cases risky too I guess - I've just always instinctively stayed away from really dangerous cases though)

Already dated and experienced how feminism causes problems, so only some kind of unicorn could possibly work

I guess everyone's entitled to their own view but the major harms of marriage are laws and those laws are from government. Many other non-marriage laws do harm to us men too. The real key here is to be done with obedience to government. Boycott that. To me MGTOW is this and any boycott of marriage is merely a side-effect instead of a specific goal.
