If you're on the plantation then you're under their control. Being free, exercising your freedom for yourself and only yourself is threatening to them. So they are afraid, afraid of anything that is not normal.

So they threaten you because they fear you. Let them be afraid, they can't hurt you. Nobody can. Only person that can hurt you is you. Just do your own thing and don't pay them any mind. It's their problem.

If you have to, put it back on them. Say things like "You sure seem to have a vested interest in my life, why is that?" "Why would you care how I live my life?" "What are you afraid of?"

Whatever it is, whatever they say, just turn it back on them.

Edit: It will put THEM on the defensive, which is where you need to keep them. With them, always be on the attack, nicely, but just keep turning it around on them and make them play defense.

As far as threats, the easiest solution is to blend in. Use excuses. My favorites are:

"I just haven't found the right one yet,"

"I'm still hung up on my ex, I know I should get over her, but I haven't healed yet,"

"I've just been really busy lately and I haven't had time to date,"

"I'm unlucky with love, women don't find me attractive"

It definitely helps if you occasionally point out attractive women to your male friends. This combined with the excuses above turn threats into pity.

Eventually you'll see, accept perhaps even, the only way within your desperate grasp to get off the plantation is to plant the soy and make sauce out of it. The result will, with one swoop (well, depends), mind you, get the only two things off the list of things you MUST do in your life.

You don't have to respond to them. Just remain calm and realize that they are trying to manipulate you, to deceive you, to put a leash on your neck. There is no point in reasoning with them because they are not using reason, they are guided solely by their emotions. Every woman will try to push you with something emotional: sexual attraction, the little girl voice, pity, sadness, contempt, shaming and finally anger. Just wait it out, watch them go through this. Anger is the final stage, just wait it out and don't commit, don't get in the mud to wrestle with pig. Their words matter not. Make your own decision, go your own way.
