Just don’t get married. It’s that simple. Why risk everything for such a minuscule reward. Would you jump into a shark infested pit just to eat a tiny snickers bar that’s floating around in it? Bc that’s what marriage is. All risk, pretty much no reward.

Why? Well, first of all, as a "younger fellow" -- unless you have literally inherited a shitload (and with your dad still living that would seem unlikely, unless it were some "trust fund" setup by a grandfather etc*) -- you probably don't have squat shit for pre-marital assets that even COULD be "protected" via a pre-nup.

Secondly, it's far MORE likely that whatever (premarital) assets you DO accumulate prior to getting married (like say a house, even if entirely paid off**)... your newly minted "wife" will manage to convince you to "upgrade" to a newer/nicer/bigger/more impressive or at least DIFFERENT house. Since the ownership of the new home will then date to being DURING the marriage (and it really doesn't matter if her name is on the title or not), it will be declared a "marital asset" (likely in it's entirety, even if she contributed not ONE penny towards its purchase or maintenance).

Same goes for pretty much everything else -- cars, furniture, appliances, bank accounts, retirement accounts, whatever -- if they are bought or have money put into them DURING the marriage.. they basically become "marital assets" (at least in "marital property" states, but depending on court precedent, probably in other states as well).

Then of course... comes CHILDREN.*** The instant she pops out a piece of crotch fruit, the entirety of the "prenup" basically gets tossed in the garbage can... because everything then is tagged as being ALL about "the best interests of the child"... and that means half the couple's assets go to the "primary" custodial parent (by default "mom"), and the REST of the man's assets will be beholden to paying the "child support" set at an amount to (ostensibly) "maintain the child in the standard of living they had while the couple was still married" but in reality to basically be an xfer of wealth from ex-hubby to ex-wife for at least as long as the child is still a "minor" (and courts are apparently sometimes stretching THAT "minor" status out now to mid 20's; even "so long as the child remains in school" {and at lest officially/ostensibly "living with mom"}).

* In which case a "pre-nup" isn't likely to be of much benefit (the fact that it was inherited, and especially if in a "trust" is actually BETTER protection than a pre-nup would be).

** And if it isn't entirely paid off, then -- whether she's working or "keeping house" -- then because the entire asset wasn't "premarital"; a significant chunk of it (at least the amount/part paid off the principal during the marriage) WILL be declared a "marital asset."

*** To be blunt about it... if you're not planning on having children, then why the fuck are you getting married? (Seriously, rent... don't buy.)

If you want to get married, just do the celebration and what not, just remember not to put your name on that paper.

They arent 100%. It could be seen as unfair, and thrown out. Not to say you shouldn't get one. But I wouldn't bet the bank on it. Also, women get offended when asked to sign. Meaning at day 1 they already have a just in case plan to take your shit.

In my experience as a tax specialist, I’ve seen plenty of my clients prenups get thrown out in court or the clauses turned against them. The more you try to make your prenup ironclad, the higher your chance you’ll ruin yourself. If a prenup isn’t balanced or in the womans favour, expect the majority of judges to annull it on grounds of it being “unfair”. Just don’t marry. Much safer

I had one and found out she cheating before had kids - she got nothing. I could hear her lawyer berating her why did she signed it. lol
