Straight razor. classic style. used.

You can sharpen them easily in seconds using 2000 grit wet or dry sand paper on a flat surface. best if surface has a little give to it.

Use a pull stroke to prevent cutting paper. ie back drag edge trailing.

A straight razor will take off a full beard in seconds. They dont plug like the crap razors.

You'll be surprised at how quick you can shave. If you cut yourself its always at the corner of the blade. corner is rounded to help some.

But you learn to use the blade edge and stay in from the corner.

Then you never cut yourself again...

And dont bother shaving during time off because the razor doesnt plug no matter how much length the beard has...

I would never buy another double edge or disposable again...

Would know I was being stupid...

The double edged were marketed originally as "Safety" razors to women to buy for their men. Was a ploy to get people buying their disposable blades, and the manjinas had to please the wife....

So a hundred years of plugged razors thanks to women and manjinas.

And Gillete made millions...

If you don't see them on the aisle it's because they're desperately trying to get rid of the Gillette stuff. Standard supermarket trick of removing choice until they shift that shit.

I have also moved to the Leaf razor. Uses 2 or 3 conventional blades, all heavy metal construction, pivoting head, should last a very long time. I like it enough that I'll probably get another one, so I have one in my home office bathroom and one in my main bathroom.

If the leaf is too pricey then I strongly recommend you find a nice but adjustable 'safety razor' and get into it, with a nice brush and some good soap.

I have a 50 year old Gillette Fatboy, a sought-after collector's piece, and I'd say these $15 adjustables are just as good - and brand new, with all their plating intact.

While on ebay look for a variety sample pack of blades, where you get a about 5 or 6 brands to play with. Combined with the 5 stages of adjustment on the razor itself you're bound to find a combo that suits you.

Get a genuine badger hair brush (not "pure", because they're fake, expect to pay around $20 or $30 for a nice real fur one).

For soap, look for something with glycerin, such as Colonel Conk. I love their amber and bay rum.

It's worth getting a decent brush and some soap regardless of the razor, as it's way better than constantly buying asshole cans of cheap foam.

But yeah, if you can afford it go for the Leaf. It's the only safety razor I'm happy to shave my head with, and 8 or 9 shaves in with the first 3 blades* and it's still good.

*Actually 1 1/2, as you snap a conventional double-edge blade in half to make 2. It's easier and safer than it sounds ;)

I highly recommend a double edge safety razor (I use https://tinyurl.com/yxc9barw) and double edge blades, which I recommend getting a blade pack (https://tinyurl.com/y3glaey4) to test various ones out.....I`ll probably be in the minority but I prefer shave oil than soap as it is more forgiving and I like the feel it leaves my face and neck.

Machete is best. Very empowering and manly. Only a few bucks and you can shave without limit. No need to create extra waste and damage the environment and you can also use the machete for other purposes. If you wish, you could use it as an extra self defence weapon at home. Robber pulls out a knife? Don’t have a gun? No problem, machete shall grant you victory.

Don’t forget you could also resell it for a few bucks when you’re done with it.

I have the same problem. Got Gillette Fusion as a present few years ago. Of course I keep using it until my cache of blades runs out, but it's going to happen soon. I'm considering buying noname, but compatible blades from Ali.

The Shick Hydro 5 is very good quality. I've used it. Now I use the Dollar Shave Club razors, their premium ones, which are also excellent. I've never had a problem cutting myself with either of these, and I don't miss Gillette.

Get a Double Edge Safety razor. There are many to choose from, I recommend this one as a good general purpose starter. Edwin Jagger Double Edge Safety Razor

Once you start shaving with a DE and saving money on top of it, you'll wonder why you didn't do it before.

I also recommend getting a pack of misc DE blades (Amazon) so you can try different ones. Every face is different, so different men prefer different blades. I like the Feather brand myself, but you might like something else.

(Straight razors are great, but too much a pain in the ass maintenance-wise when you need to go to work and you want a quick shave on the go.)
