Don't we already have the ability to clone humans? I know it's considered immoral right now but maybe humanity should get to the point where only the best people carry on in the form of clones. There was an interesting book about cloning when I was young called House of The Scorpion that drew on that.

With total population 7.5 billion and to be over 10 billion by 2055, nothing to worry about. Other than people from educated countries aren't adding much to the numbers nowadays.

Look into Developmental Biology, particularly Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz's work, interesting paper

Assembly of embryonic and extra-embryonic stem cells to mimic embryogenesis in vitro.

We can now take pluripotent stem cells (btw induced ones are functionally equivalent, ie from your own blood) and combine them with extra-embryonic trophoblast stem cells to construct and cultivate embryos.

We can do so successfully until we hit the 14 day bioethic limit, which is now holding back further research.

On the other end of the developmental process we can take premature lambs and carry them to term in artificial wombs.

While there is alot we don't know, and there's laws preventing us from connecting both ends, we have the technology to make it work.

I'm more excited about this than sex-bots because it will completely level the playing field in terms of reproductive rights.

A couple of days ago I was thinking even though I'm an older guy, I never had much urge to have children. But so called "replacement cloning" is a whole other thing. I would clean out my savings at the end of my life if it had a 50:50 chance of working.
