I think the compromise is more appealing where everyone is "augmented" and partially robotic. We could all have an artificial neural mesh making us all smarter and all sorts of implants and bionic replacements that would keep us emotionally and physically happy/healthy. This way, if we develop AI in the meantime, we would be able to keep up by artificially expanding our intellectual capabilities the same way the AI can. Imagine a race of super smart superhuman humans ; we could pretty much do anything at that point.

I was thinking about this earlier, we've enter the new age and with each new age we integrate it's commonalities slowly but surely. In antiguity age bronze and iron and agriculture etc are akin to today's, while the classical era saw great expansion and armies and many Q.O.L. practices as well as medicinal was integrated, the middle ages were culmination of all the past ones onto the new frontier and things like a global economy and so on were slowly integrated, the middle ages were so diverse in this aspect and were also the longest.

But ya just after ww2 the middle ages ended and we've entered what is now the Modern ages but our current tier which is a sublet of a sublet of sublet age is the space era or space automation era (we will be seeing automated mining expeditions in the next 20 years aside from colonizing other planets), we've already passed the information era! But ya the grand scheme of things we are slowly integrating with robotics which is called transhumanism and is the staple of the singularity era which will start around 2040 and probably end before 3000 which we will then be in the new epoch of the modern age, we will be a fairly well established multi-planet species and possibly working on colonizing other star systems in this new classical esque modern era known as transcendence era. That is if we don't wipe ourselves out which is actually far more likely.

If two processes are equal in all aspects but one comes with an off switch, then I take that one.

There is no simple off switch to marriage or even to ending other negative relationships. So lets see how far we can drive the technology, because compared to that what we have to suffer through right now it can only get better.

Personally, I'm 100% onboard with robots. Though there are a few things I think deserve careful consideration.

Don't get me wrong, I'd take a robo-girl over a real woman any day of the week, but I was pondering the other day whether or not it would affect how we view our fellow humans. When you've got a perfect android companion (assuming these hypothetical bots accurately simulate emotion, motion, and thought), whether they're a sexual partner or just a friend, it would start to make me think less of actual people.

Of course, it's not like technology hasn't already made this the case. With stuff like social media allowing us to see people's true, unfiltered opinions, tech is already souring my opinion of others. And more importantly, would it matter? Would liking flesh-and-blood humans even be a requirement when flawless androids came about? I already prefer to deal with machines to people. I already have a pretty shitty outlook on people in general. Would that extra little push of them being inferior to androids really make a difference?

I also think that when realistic androids become a thing, you'll start to meet fewer actual people. When you've got an always hot, always ready, always kind, always helpful sexbot, would people want to go through the trouble of making friends with inferior real humans?

It's just interesting to consider how it would impact human behavior when you can create human-like beings that accurately simulate us, only minus all of the negative attributes.

But what I really can't wait for is when self-augmentation becomes achievable. I swear that I will become at least 10% machine before my pitiful flesh-pieces wither and die.
