I just watched this movie which has mostly male actors. It is based on an event in 1985 where the Soviets attempt to save their space station. However it is mostly been changed for a more patriotic movie with many things embellished. Even the main character names have been changed from those who flew up there.

What caught my eye was this comment:

"Salyut-7 isn’t the most progressive film about women’s roles: the wives are just there to provide tension and pathos, Svetlana (based on Svetlana Savitskaya, the first woman to walk in space) is only around long enough to endanger herself and be rescued, and the one prominent woman on the ground crew is constantly ignored and dismissed. It’s telling, from an emotional-labor standpoint, that she’s the one in charge of the cosmonauts’ health, and that she’s always the one raising red flags and urging caution and a premature end to the mission. Her entire role involves being a drag, while the men valiantly ignore the risks and press forward."

Well I had to watch it now. I found a very good quality download with subtitles. I would recommend to watch it. They do portray the Americans as the bad guys but the special effects and the acting is good. This is sorta like Gravity but no Mary Sue's.
