My brother is one of those, minus the children. It's frustrating to watch but he's convinced that being with a critical land whale who will never really respect him and keeps orbiters around in plain view is preferable to being alone. He's convinced that what others say is true, that living life without a woman is an empty and sad life, so he's settling for the bottom of the barrel

Many of those guys didn’t marry a landwhale, the women just became a landwhale. Once women get their wedding rings (the symbol of the ultimate financial contract), the diet/exercise routine is no longer necessary. She’s now allowed to become her real self.
